Hello my name is Angel Rodriguez and I was born in July 1st, 2004. I live with my parents, sister, and dog. I really like to watch movies, YouTube, and TV shows like Lost, Game of Thrones, and every cartoon ever. I love to play games, hang out, run, and talk. I love all kinds of food like tacos, tamales, and basically everything that's consumable. I LOVE dogs, they're the cutest thing on the Earth because of their fluffy fur, their cute eyes, and overall their personalities. I really enjoy music, they're part of me, my favorite type of music is all kinds, my all time favorite band is Gorillaz. I really love to draw and just looking at art because whenever I see art I think how much work and dedication it takes to do it. To be perfectly honest I don't know what I wanna be when I grow up but I see myself  in something related to STEM/STEAM. That's all about me.

Growth Mindset:
WRITTEN BY Angel Rodriguez, Christopher Garcia, and Daniela Mejia
Per. 5-6           Language Arts

Growth Mindset is the idea of gaining education, showing effort, and learning through the process. Growth Mindset has become a trend as this topic has contributed to students, parents, and doctors who desire to be better. When somebody has a growth mindset they see the world differently because they see all these problems and think that the struggle means that they are learning. When someone has a growth mindset they write down what they learned and then the message gets more clear so that more people can understand it. In an article published by US News, by The Hechinger Report, Carol Dweck from Stanford University states that parents have started their children's fixed mindset at a young age since they were told they were smart without that much effort (5). As Dweck stated, “as the growth the mindset has become more popular and taken hold, we are beginning to find that there are pitfalls. Many educators misunderstand or misapply the concepts.” The quote explains that since the educators who are the ones teaching about it might misapply the concepts students might not get it. Students may also misunderstand the concept of the growth mindset as the parents misunderstand it as well. The parents would think that effort would lead their child toward a growth mindset so the children think they are doing well even though they need to learn about developing their abilities/skills. Thus far, having a growth mindset is significant because you can understand different concepts and make sure you can learn to your fullest potential.

This is our our growth mindset artifact. Our artifact represents the recent solar eclipse that happened here in the USA. There are two sides of this artifact; one side is showing you through the lenses of average glasses not showing the eclipse correctly, while the other shows a prototype version of the same glasses where you can see the eclipse more clearly. The average glasses represents a fixed mindset because when you have a fixed mindset you lose sight on what you really need to be seeing when you are learning. The prototype glasses represent a growth mindset because the glasses are still being developed to become better in quality. All of this is important because this shows how having a growth mindset can really help you in many unique ways and it shows how a fixed mindset can affect your learning experience and your mental capacity.

Thank You Mendez

I have learned a lot in my 3 years in Mendez Intermediate School. I have learned to love engineering and music. I have also made a lot of great friends, friends that are there when you need them. I am so grateful for the time I have been there, If it weren’t for this school and the people in it I wouldn’t know what my passions were or what I want to pursue in life. I am grateful for my teachers who pushed me to succeed and that actually cared about their students and that were there if you needed help with the lessons. I thank Ms. Cabrera for showing me how great engineering is. I thank Mr. Diaz for making me love math. I thank Ms. Park for helping me prepare for the future and for helping me learn how to research better. I thank Mrs. Barret for helping me realizing the importance of Language Arts. I thank Mrs. Romeo for believing in me and for seeing how smart I can be when I couldn’t. I thank all my teachers for helping me prepare for the future. And most importantly I thank Mendez for giving me the best middle school experience and I will miss this school greatly. I will work as hard in Segerstrom High School (My High School) as I did in Mendez. Thank You Mendez
